Soooo…I have to apologize for leaving you hanging last week with no sign of a post. And I have to ask your forgiveness again, because I’ve decided it’s time to go on maternity leave. I promised myself I wouldn’t bore you with defensive excuses about how tired I am, or how hot it is in my office (88 at the moment, which on the pregnant lady thermometer translates to 103), or how we are just now finishing up a double bathroom and master bedroom remodel and therefore still aren’t quite ready for baby boy to show up sometime this month (!). I decided I would be like all the other righteous mom’s-to-be and just gracefully announce my hiatus, but dang, it’s hard. I am humbled.
I love this blog, and this driven part of me has a hard time accepting that between a very limited supply of energy with which to get my affairs in order, and the heat, I need to pare back. Day after day I keep promising myself: today I’ll get a post up. But you know what? I’m 8 and 1/2 months pregnant… in August…with a ton of work to do on my nest. (Oh, the nesting!!) By the end of this week, we will finally be able to play musical rooms and move back into our bedroom, prepare the guestroom for all the grandma’s and grandpa’s coming to help with the baby, and finally, FINALLY finish creating a space for our son, right here next to my blogging machine, where he can fall asleep to the clickety-clack of the keyboard.
Thank you for understanding, and loving me anyway. I need my remaining afternoons to rest in the coolness of our basement, or go out for ice cream with my husband, or bob around in the pool like a giant buoy, instead of sitting here watching my ankles disappear and my toes turn to swollen little sausages, in this riduculously HOT office.
IT’S HOT. Did I mention it’s hot? I’m also grouchy too : )
I’m letting myself off the hook for a while to concentrate on the biggest life change we will ever face. And when the sea’s settle, I will come back to you, my dear readers. In the meantime, I intend to move a few more recipes over from my old blog, to keep some fresh content up, but no promises, okay? It’s way too hot for promises.

Happy maternity leave, Ginny! This hiatus will give me an opportunity to catch up on trying recipes. By the way — we just tried the coconut lime french toast. Oh, my! We’ve eaten it the last two mornings, and there is still more batter to soak more bread in. So, guess what’s for breakfast tomorrow?
I wish you well on your final days of being pregnant, and that all goes well as you welcome your boy!
Susan
Sounds like a great plan Susan! I hope you found that the coconut lime custard improved with age. Thanks for being here and for your kind words : )
Dear Ginny:
You definitely deserve a maternity leave but thank you for thinking of your devoted
fans. I look forward to hearing about your new little fellow. Good luck to you and
Noah during this very happy time. God Bless!
Pam
Thanks for being one of those devoted fans Pam. We’ll keep you posted!
My goodness time goes by fast. I’ll be thinking about you, Noah and the little one to come. Good energy your way. Enjoy and you should also get in a few siestas after some ice cream. Staying tuned – Andrea
Post ice-cream siestas are the best kind Andrea- preggers or no! Thanks for the well wishes : )
Take advantage of the time before baby, Ginny! Can’t wait to meet the little guy!
Love,
Jill
Thanks Jill!
The wit, wisdom and recipes will keep. Pregnancy is really really special, sausage toes, sweaty days & nights and nesting, nesting, nesting notwithstanding (have you polished all the shoes in the house yet???) Very much looking forward to the first photos of your lovely son — when you’re rested & ready to post them, of course! Big (gentle) hugs from across the Great Water.
XX Pat
Thanks Pat! You nailed it. Shoes aren’t yet polished but somehow I feel like I’ll be able to sleep better when they are. Can’t wait to share pics with you…SOON!
